Thanks to community members “Rayface” and “NC” for the theme suggestion! While not everyone in this community plays DnD, nonetheless TTRPGs, it’s always nice to take a peak at the creativity throughout the DnD community. From wild new worlds to different rulesets, quests, classes, and more, the way the game works leans itself to player creativity. But DMs are also players that get to be creative as well! Whether you feel the game was missing something, or you simply had a cool or funny idea, “homebrew” is the thing for you. For the homebrew races in this list, I tried finding ones that were interesting without being totally game-breaking, but also didn’t care too much about that either. So whether you use them or not, enjoy this list of cool custom DnD races!
This actually links to a compendium of several races called “The Invented”. Great for worlds with a bit more tech literacy, I’d think!
I tried avoiding DnD Beyond, not because I don’t like it, but it’s harder to integrate this into games that don’t use it. Couldn’t find alternatives, but oh well!
My understanding is that this is fairly popular, and even has its own DnD Beyond pages not even made by the original author (meaning someone ported it over because they enjoyed it)!
I played a couple sessions of a campaign as a Praedaren before. It was cancelled early-in due to time issues and the DM getting themselves into way too many games to DM (a byproduct of the post-COVID DnD scheduling crash). I really liked just how much flavor there was to work with.
I think this author also made something called “Voidborn” as well.
