The world is full of a bunch of different languages and ways to communicate with other people. With this comes different sounds, tongue placements, and ways to reverberate the throat! What also comes with it, though, are different sounding words for the same objects. Like “stick” in English is “lakadee” (लकड़ी) in Hindi – two different pronunciations for the same object. Similarly, different languages may even have different words to replicate sounds in the world. A word that conveys the sound something makes is an onomatopoeia, like “thwap”, “cacaw”, and “plop”. Even though they’re just doing imitations of a sound, different languages may pronounce them differently! So get ready to waste your time with some potentially useless knowledge!
