It’s Pride Month! This month, though infamous for corporations trying to get a few extra bucks off of the gays, the month itself is meant as a time for the queerfolk to express themselves and celebrate their resilience in dealing with the oppression and hatred they experience. These memes may be best understood by people that are actually queer, or those that spend time in queerspaces, so if you’re straight and CIS, you may not laugh at as many of these. But that’s okay! All these meme lists are designed in a way that are extra funny for some and meh for others. That’s why they cover a broad spectrum.
This month, there will be a series of queer-aligned meme lists alongside the regular meme lists. On every list, a different donation link to a safe and secure LGBTQIA+ aligned charity will be shared. Not everyone in this community is queer, and there are many people having different struggles in life, but this month is with intent to focus on the queerfolk.
As a personal note from Guy (I mean, I write all these paragraphs anyways — though can’t decide between 3rd or 1st person writing — but rarely break the wall to be personal): I’m aware there are people in the community from different walks of life, political views, etc.. So let me stress this: I have been kind in not outright banning some people from chatting, mainly due to fear of vengeance from fringe & extreme communities. But I won’t hesitate if you’re being belligerent and sharing even more unfounded and stupid conspiracy theories or complaints.If you’re going to pull a “go woke, go broke” statement, know that not only is that literally factually the OPPOSITE, but IWSMT has been struggling for years and I’m aware of it. Your leaving this community will have no overall bearing, as the current ad-earn and changes to Google algorithm has had this site bleeding for some time. If you want to be here and engage, awesome. But you choose what you interact with. You don’t need to interact with the Queer memes if you don’t want to. If you’re complaining that the posts are at a ratio of 15:1 for queer memes, know that 15:1 is a lesser ratio than the amount of queer people per 100. It’s literally still in the straights/cis’ favor. So stop, and fuck off 🙂
